MTHFR
A common genetic variant
that can affect multiple systems,
MTHFR status is important to understand.
Methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) is the rate-limiting enzyme in the methyl cycle, and it is encoded by the MTHFR gene.
The presence of a SNP (single nucleotide polymorphisms) in the MTHFR gene is present in upwards of 50% of the population, and has been correlated to increased risks of heart disease, neurological and mood disorders, and even some cancers.
Vitamin B12 - Should be in the methylcobalamin form
Vitamin B9 - Should be in the methylfolate form
Dr. Bier and his family carry both SNPs of the MTHFR genetic mutations. Human Nature Natural Health has MTHFR Friendly formulas so that people with this common mutation can get the supplements they need.
